Experienced Oracle Architect/ Designer/ DBA required to advise on application migration from SQL Server to Oracle RAC. The role title is Senior Data Integration Engineer.
The Senior Data Integration Engineer is responsible for advising on options and best practices for the porting of Application and RDBMS mechanisms and components for the Mobilisation Management element of a large scale integrated solution. The project requires a port of the "back-end" of a packaged Windows/ SQL Server application from SQL to Oracle 11g RAC.
The vendor of the packaged application is porting the application and working with the customer on a number of test/ p-o-c exercises. A significant amount of application code is within the dbms code. As a result the port includes migration of SQL functions and procedures as well as tables and views. Migration of data is not a focus of this exercise - other than to test the validity of the port. This role involves:-
(a) advising the team on options, issues, risks and best practices to migrate from SQL Server to 11g RAC
(b) highlighting aspects that may impact the application e.g. app-db interfaces, app code within dbms, RAC partitioning, hardening
(c) designing a secure RAC/ DataGuard environment
(d) helping ensure the port is fit for purpose.
• Design of large scale system application and RDBMS architectures, mechanisms and components
• Liaising with the customer and project inter-working teams to establish key elements and requirements
• Working with third party suppliers to define and provide system components
• Work with the System Integration Team to build and manage systems
• Ensuring system integrity is maintained and that all applicable standards are maintained
• Technical investigations and diagnosis
• Problem reporting
• Provide input for product acceptance testing
