- Work within the Infrastructure Directorate and/ or within specific Programmes or Projects to identify and resolve infrastructure architecture challenges and issues
- Assure the design and infrastructure architecture decisions from suppliers
- Develop infrastructure architecture guidance for NHS Infrastructure initiatives, Programmes and / or Projects
- Work with suppliers to produce detailed technical designs and assurance of detailed technical designs for products and services developed in relation to Enterprise Wide Agreements in place between suppliers and the NHS
- Engage with the NHS IM&T community to provide and encourage active involvement in development, testing, assurance and adoption of infrastructure initiatives and technical solutions
Essential Competencies for this role include:
- Technical experience in Infrastructure technologies and Infrastructure architecture (particularly those provided through NHS England Enterprise Wide Agreements with suppliers such as, but not limited to, Microsoft, Novell and Oracle)
- Technical knowledge of Knowledge Worker technologies, suppliers and roadmaps and their relevance to healthcare
- Technical knowledge and awareness of collaboration (“groupware” or “workgroup support systems”) technologies, in particular peer-to-peer solutions, including the suppliers of such technologies and the development roadmaps of such solutions
- Experience of delivering infrastructure projects to implementation and service management, along with vendor management and negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate clearly / publicly with a range of different stakeholders from a variety of technical, non-technical and clinical backgrounds
- Experience of assuring designs comply with a defined Infrastructure architecture
- Excellent technical problem solving skills
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users and to direct the non-technical staff to provide the input needed to move issues forward
- Background in systems analysis and design and user requirements capture
