Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer
Our Client is an International medical-technology Group, providing advanced clinical solutions. They are now looking to recruit a Design Engineer on a 6-9 month contract
The Role - Design Engineer required to work within the manufacturing engineering group. The role is a drawing office position responsible for the ongoing design maintenance of hardware products which have been released to manufacturing from R&D and which have been clinically released to the market. Primarily using CAD tools (Solid Edge) and a Product Data Management (PDM) system, the key responsibilities are to produce high quality updates to technical product documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Often under the guidance of Engineers, provide high quality updates to technical product documentation (TPD) in order to resolve manufacturing engineering related issues for released hardware products. Typically this may include design improvements resulting from engineering change requests or projects in order to reduce costs, improve reliability, respond to regulatory changes or improve manufacturability and serviceability.
- Produce or amend CAD models, detail drawings, bills of material and other product documentation.
- To assist Drawing Office Co-ordinator in estimating tasks and duration.
- To accept accountability for performance to agreed estimates.
- To carry out low level engineering investigation of ECRs and implement solutions within the TPD.
- To provide drawing office services for Clients business groups when required.
- To register part data, create and maintain Bills of Material for products.
- To assist Planning group with the establishment and maintenance of Logistics and MRP data.
- Understand and adhere to the quality system and introduce improvements to its effectiveness.
- Support the Engineering Change process.
The Candidate - You will be educated to min HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, have relevant experience working in a drawing / design office using CAD (Solid Edge) producing 3D models, geometrically toleranced 2D drawings and Bills Of Materials. Relevant experience of using an electronic PDM system in a manufacturing company.
