Technical Lead / Project Manager required for an initial 120 day contract working in Somerset
Mandatory skill/ experience:
•Project management/ leadership of technical projects
•PRINCE2 methodology
•Practical experience and knowledge of web technologies, oriented towards on-line order fulfilment solutions.
•Delivery of solutions involving demanding, best-practice IT security elements.
•Excellent inter-personal/ communication/ influencing skills
•SAP environments, especially around interfacing order fulfilment solutions.
•TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL frameworks/ methodologies.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The information Management and Technology division is responsible for developing, delivering maintaining information management and technology solutions.
Technology is Microsoft based, hosted on around 200, Hewlett Packard servers. The client population comprises of over 1000 PCs with a number of VMS, Sun and Apple workstations.
System wise, the main solution is SAP with a number of proprietary bespoke solutions supporting the chart production capability. A strategic review has resulted in us starting to move towards a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) environment, along with a number of other technological step changes. Our web presence is hosted by a third party and is progressively moving towards a Sharepoint-based solution.
Having conducted the initial business analysis work on the order fulfilment solution we now wish to take the next steps towards initiating a project to deliver the required system improvements. It is envisaged that there are two stages to be progressed;
1. A technical evaluation/ proof of concept leading to
2. A project to deliver the identified business requirements/ technical solution.
To progress the work we require the services of a technical project lead. The initial requirement is to conduct the initial technical evaluation but, depending on the outcome of this stage, there may be an opportunity to take the project delivery stage forward
Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to 10 weeks.
