The Director of Interactive Design is responsible for the formulation and execution of the Interactive Design Direction for Digital Learning Products for Children aged 4-16 approx (K-12). The Director of Interactive Design will manage and direct the Interactive Design team which includes visual design, interactive design, interface design, information design, audio design and user experience design. The Director of Interactive Design champions best practices and processes for world class interactive design.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Articulation and execution of the Interactive Design Vision as well as the management/ motivation of a team of highly skilled creative resources.
Delivery of a creative strategy that meets brand, product design and business objectives
Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Flexible and able to shift focus as necessary and to anticipate and mitigate issues
Provides leadership for the Interactive Design team, this includes driving strong talent management (recruiting, motivating, performance management).
Develops & mentors the Interactive Design team to ensure effective collaboration with product development during the product design and prototyping process, implement best in class approach to execution of product design activities that deliver on schedule, quality, and business requirements.
Execution of cross- functional partnerships, working closely with Product Design teams (Engineering/ Technology Design & Instructional Design) and R&D teams to translate requirements into effective interactive designs.
Evaluation and selection of partners for interactive design.
Defines and implements best in class practices for Interactive Design.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
10 years Interactive Design experience, preferably with learning products targeting Children aged 4-16 years
Experience developing interactive software for learning
Successful experience establishing a vision for Interactive Design and implementation
Experience in building and managing a team of interactive designers – including the ongoing evolution of methodologies for interactive design to delivery innovate learning products.
Expertise in cross-group/ divisional collaboration to operationalize strategy and its execution
Demonstrated leadership of high performance design teams and excellence in talent management
Highly passionate about digital learning – can provide leadership and motivation to interactive design teams
Capacity to be self motivated, and to work with and motivate a variety of technical and creative individuals
Highly Desirable
Strong design/ aesthetic sensibilities
Primary/ Masters degree in Interactive Design
Specific experience in developing interactive learning products
Membership in key professional organizations, research communities and a clear commitment to staying abreast of trends and movements in interactive design
