Vice President - Product Design

The Vice President, Product Design is responsible for the formulation and execution of Product Design Strategy for Digital Learning Products for Kids aged 4-16 approx (K-12). This role involves the management and direction of the Product Design functions namely, Interactive Design, Instructional Design and Engineering/ Technology Design. The Vice President, Product Design champions and directs the execution of the Product Design vision and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for articulation and execution of the Product Design Vision across product development. This requires coordination across various teams including division based print development teams.
Defines and implements best in class practices for Interactive Product Design including User Experience
Develop product design strategies – this involves networking with thought leaders, customers and product design experts to develop learning products that are transformational for the K-12 education market.
Provides leadership for the Digital Learning Product Design group, this includes driving strong talent management (recruiting, motivating, performance management), great execution and cross- division partnerships. Works closely with Product Management and R&D teams to translate requirements into effective product designs.
Develops & mentors the Digital Learning Product Design group to ensure effective collaboration with product management and R&D teams during the product design and prototyping process, implement best in class approach to execution of product design activities that deliver on schedule, quality, and business requirements.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Flexible and able to shift focus as necessary and to anticipate and mitigate issues
Evaluation and selection of partners for product design.
Skills and Experience:

Essential:

10 years Interactive Product Design experience, preferably with learning products targeting children aged 4-16 years
Highly passionate about digital learning – can provide leadership and motivation to product development & R&D teams.
Capacity to be self motivated, and to work with and motivate a variety of technical and creative individuals
Experience in building and managing a team of product designers – including the ongoing evolution of methodologies for product design to delivery innovate learning products.
Experience developing interactive software for learning
Demonstrated leadership of high performance teams and excellence in talent management
Successful experience establishing a vision for Digital Product Design and implementation
Expertise in cross-group/ divisional collaboration to operationalize strategy and its execution
Highly Desirable:

Strong design/ aesthetic sensibilities
Primary/ Masters degree in Interactive Product Design
Specific experience in developing learning products.
Membership in key professional organizations, research communities and a clear commitment to staying abreast of trends and movements in product design
