The principal role of the software engineer is to design and develop control, image processing and user interface software for a microscope based product range of scientific instrumentation. Software is Windows based, mainly C++ but also Visual Basic and C#.

Position: Software Engineer.
Location: Cambridge.
Salary: £30-40k.
Key Skills: C++, Windows, MFC, GUI’s C#, Visual Basic, VC++

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical / scientific subject, suitable software engineers will have at least 2 years industry experience with core competence in C++ programming. Some knowledge of Visual Basic and Microsoft Foundation Classes would be ideal, C# and .Net will be useful.

This position involves the design of control applications and GUI’s so any experience in this area welcomed. The most relevant experience would be C++ software development for applications such as microscopy, control systems, life sciences, instrumentation, or something scientific.

Suitable software engineers will have proven skills in developing software in a team-based environment, be innovative, self- disciplined and a “hands on” team player.

Those key skills again : Software Engineer with skills such as C++, GUI, MFC, VB, C#, VC++.
