• To provide advice and recommendations on technical &non technical issues.
• To assist in the production of Root Cause Analysis reports.
• To be responsible for the Unix environment, with the overall objective of improving service levels, simplifying the infrastructure, & reducing costs.
• To be responsible for the development &improvement of the internal processes of the team.
• To follow the operational processes & procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems & services.
• To display & practice the key disciplines of an UNIX Administrator.
• To work with business & European IT colleagues to document requirements & time scales for projects & proposed changes, such that requirements form a clear &agreed basis for subsequent work.
• To ensure that all new systems are in line with the Operational Acceptance procedure.
• To assist the Availability &Performance teams in the monitoring of systems.
• To carry out pro-active maintenance to minimize unplanned outages &eliminate poor performance.
Key Skills - Unix
• Unix system management initially for AIX 5.3 up to latest V6.1 on PSeries Platform, HACMP, LPARS, VIO
• TRU64, HPUX and Linux (nice to have)
• High availability technologies (HACMP, TruCluster, ASE, Service-Guard)
• DNS,NFS, NIS management.
• Problem resolution
• Operating system &software installation and configuration
• Adherence to Unilever system security policies.
Experience
• You will be a strong Unix Administrator with proven relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in more than one platform (preferred platform AIX 5.3)
• You will have a strong customer service orientation, with attention to quality of service& responsiveness for both internal &external customers.
• You will have good inter-personal, team-working& communications skills
• You will have a high level of initiative & sound judgement & be able to work with minimum supervision.
