A company who provide scientific software are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to develop, maintain and implement test cases and scripts. An interest in/ knowledge of the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry is desirable, but not essential. The successful QA Engineer should have some years experience and will be offered a salary in the region of £25K- £30K.

Position: Quality Assurance (QA)/ Test Engineer
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK
Status: Permanent
Salary: £25K-£30K
Key Skills: Experience of command-line tools and scripting (Python, Perl), strong computing knowledge, software testing experience
Desirables: Software validation (QA or compliance), Life Science sector knowledge, commercial programming, cross platform issues (Windows and Unix), experience/ interest in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of test cases and scripts of real-time semantic software. The QA/ Test Engineer will work closely with the software developers and software engineers, reviewing test plans and carrying out testing and analysis.
You will also be testing software specifically for use in life science applications and some experience of or interest in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry would be highly desirable.
The QA Engineer must also enjoy working in a fast-moving start-up environment, which requires multi-tasking, flexibility and the ability to work in a small, highly motivated team. This role may suit software engineers looking for something different, as well as test engineers.

Requirements
The ideal QA Engineer will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong computing experience
- Software engineering experience
- Commercial experience of the software development cycle
- Experience of command-line tools and scripting (Python, Perl)
- Software testing experience

Additionally, the following attributes would be advantageous:
- Experience of software validation, QA or compliance
- Background in or experience of the Life Science sector (Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry)
- Commercial programming experience
- Familiarity with cross-platform issues

Those Key Skills again: Scripting languages (Python, Perl), strong computer experience, software testing, software development life cycle.
