Government Client based in Berkshire requires a Business Analyst with Geographical Information System (GI) skills to come and work as part of a project team.
They have developed a GIS software application for the processing, support and maintenance of this corporate spatial repository. The client is now looking to review its existing architecture and develop further its GIS strategy by implementing a programme of change which is likely to include web based GIS for customers, and have identified the need to re-architect the existing GIS solution. This change needs to be 'business architecture' led to maximise the potential benefits that can be realised from any future investment. Initial focus will be on working with a wide group to complete the analysis and architecture work required to produce a business case.
The role includes scoping the change required to meet business objectives.
The GI Business Analyst will be expected to work closely with the GI Services team and operational management.
There is acceptance of the principle that the existing business organisation and process may need to be varied so a package solution can be adopted without major change. Previous GI implementation experience is required.
The GIS Business analysts responsibilities will include:
Provision of a GI Architecture service
Close working with subject matter experts within GI Services
Work with the strategy teams to identify GI opportunities at the earliest possible stage
Analysing user requirements from a business and technical perspective with operational staff and suppliers
Assessing alternative GI architecture models and specifying the preferred architecture
Explaining any constraints that come with proposed architecture and agreeing how they might be overcome.
Planning for organisational and other resource and process impacts
Review and assure supplier proposals related to GI architectures
Contribute to development of technical policy
Tracking current techno
