My large public sector client is looking for a GI (Geographical Information) Business Analyst to review its existing architecture and develop further its GIS strategy.
The GI Business Analyst will be expected to work closely with the GI Services team and operational management.
There is acceptance of the principle that the existing business organisation and process may need to be varied so a package solution can be adopted without major change. Previous GI implementation experience is required.
Responsibilities:
Provision of a GI Architecture service.
Close working with subject matter experts within GI Services
Work with the strategy teams to identify GI opportunities at the earliest possible stage
Analysing user requirements from a business and technical perspective with operational staff and suppliers
Working with other agencies to understand their requirements
Assessing alternative GI architecture models and specifying the preferred architecture
Explaining any constraints that come with proposed architecture and agreeing how they might be overcome.
Planning for organisational and other resource and process impacts
Review and assure supplier proposals related to GI architectures
Contribute to development of technical policy
Tracking current technology developments in the GI arena
Supervision of suppliers during development and provision of design assurance.
Identification and management of risk.
Essential Experience:
- Successful track record in the delivery of complex GIS solutions to large organisations
- Demonstrable experience of adopting package based solutions, adapting the business where appropriate.
