Our client is recruiting for an Infrastructure Technical Design Manager to recommend documents and design systems which meet business needs.
Key responsibilities of the Infrastructure Technical Design Manager:
Working alone on simple systems or with colleagues on more complex systems, produces outline system specifications covering for example: objectives, scope, constraints (such as performance, resources etc.), hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met, and alternatives considered.
Working alone on moderately complex systems and modifications to existing systems, or with colleagues on larger or more complex systems, specifies user/ system interfaces, including for example: security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
Translates logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance requirements and existing systems. Produces detailed designs including for example: physical data flows, backup, recovery and restart procedures.
Documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
Produces logical system designs showing for example: processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs. Identifies common processes.
Working with data analysis colleagues where appropriate, produces or updates system object/ data models and correlates these with corporate models.

Software which enables the user to create, populate and manipulate data structures. Examples: Access, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle.
Software tools which automate or assist part of the development process. Examples: Oracle Developer
Standards associated with the practitioner's current Role. Examples: safety standards, departmental programming standards, organisational network performance standards, help desk procedures, corporate quality and change management processes, IT Infrastructure Library.
Knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) used within own organisation.
The selection and application of information gathering methods, tools and techniques which are appropriate to the information required and the sources available. Examples: contextual enquiries, focus groups, structured interviews, questionnaires, observation, statistical analysis.
The system or method for the management of quality within the employing organisation.
Due to the nature of the work you will be required to attain the necessary security clearance before commencing work.
