SQL Sever Consultant required to work onsite in Bracknell/ Cheltenham. The successful candidate must hold a valid DV Security clearance before commencing this assignment. The SQL Server expert will Collate requirements for SQL Server 2005 from the workstream teams and develop implementations for multi-site SQL Server 2005 systems that meets the functional and non-functional requirements. Work with team leads in defining the database design to ensure that it integrates seamlessly with the other deliverable components in terms of capability, performance and security.
Act as lead SME whilst being a good team player and a self motivated individual.
Primary roles and responsibilities include:
• Develop both high level and detailed designs for the SQL Server 2005 instances that will support the other workstreams.
The designs will satisfy the functional requirements if the workstreams, as well as meeting the non-functional requirements
for performance, sizing, availability and business continuity.
• Implement the solution and develop test strategies to ensure all requirements are met
• Contribute to the development of suitable security lockdown polices for the SQL Server 2005 instances
• Contribute in design/ work-groups as required
Skills, Knowledge and Required Experience:
• Detailed knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and associated technologies
• Knowledge of High Availability & Business Continuity designs, including clustering and data mirroring
• Knowledge of SQL Server 2005 backup & recovery techniques
• Knowledge of SQL Server 2005 performance and sizing
• Knowledge of SQL Server 2005 security and lockdown
Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to 18 weeks.
