Sybase DBA required to work an initial 6 month contract opportunity with my tier one investment bank.
The succesful Sybase DBA will work within central dba team to service all aspects of Sybase administration whilst adhering to in-house standards.
These tasks will include;
* Monitoring our work delivery mechanisms (hotline, chat channel, change systems, and request systems) for incoming work.
* Working outside core business hours when required (this will include becoming part of weekend on-call support and planned work rota system where appropriate).
* Co-ordinating server outages/ upgrades with relevant teams.
* Setting up, and resolving issues with, complex multi-way Sybase replication server domains.
* Building/ upgrading ASE servers, adhering to bank deployment and security standards.
* Assisting application teams to resolve performance issues when they arise, coordinating with cross-functional teams where appropriate.
* Debugging script and stored procedure code where necessary..
* Proactive engagement in the continual development and improvement of the service offering. The individual will be expected to generate innovative solutions to both technical and process challenges. Experience
