Senior Project Manager - required by this leader in the Defence market. The prime purpose is to deliver projects to time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction. A secondary purpose is to help develop the Site's Project Management capability by acting as the performance and development manager. Application of current project management industry skills standards are a prerequisite for the role as a key element of the role surrounds project management development of residing project managers. The working environment is fast paced and ever changing with ever increasing demands placed by the customer. Process improvement in line with the requisites of CMMi will be a key area of activity along with driving change along the project axis.

This role is in Essex, commutable from Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend.

Specific Responsibilities
Delivery of medium and large size projects. Programme Management of the portfolio of the Capabilities projects. Development & improvement of project delivery process in line with policy. Development of competencies & behaviours of existing project managers and project support.

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities
A good understanding of the principles of project management and experience of managing projects in a commercial environment. Experience supported by formal training such as Project Management courses or PRINCE 2. A good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Project is required, together with a working knowledge of other Microsoft programmes - Word/ Excel/ Powerpoint. Good interpersonal skills - communication, influencing, persuasion, negotiating. Good people management skills.
