The Background
A fantastic opportunity has come up for a Scientist, to join the Signature Management Division within the Research and Software team of an organisation that specialises in the design and manufacture of Power and Magnetics product solutions for the Defence and global Transit markets.
The Role
Reporting to the Research and Software Team Leader, the successful candidate will carry out a vital role within a dedicated team of Scientists undertaking studies and developing software and system designs for underwater measurement ranges and vessel degaussing systems. The successful applicant will work closely with other team members developing technical solutions to successfully meet project objectives.
The successful candidate will work on a range of scientific, modelling and programming activities from bid to delivery in a variety of different areas of the business.
The Person
The successful candidate will be computer literate with good programming skills and experience in C, C++, or Visual Basic. Ideally you will have presentation skills and training skills and be confident in a customer-facing role.
Experience in two or more of the following would be beneficial: electromagnetic modelling, ship/ mine encounter modelling, Vector Fields FEA, BEASY, RCS and IR signatures, Mathematica/ MATLAB/ Simulink, LAN Networking / TCP/ IP and hardware interfacing
Some travel is required which may include site work of up to a month at a time, for example, research or commissioning trials in the UK and worldwide.
