Introduction
My client is a global business providing management and consultancy services to the built and natural environment. The UK business has approximately 35 offices across most of the major cities and towns in England, Wales and Scotland.
Due to the expansion and growth of the business, a vacancy has arisen for an experienced Software Developer.
Working with our development team based in Cambridge, the role will be focused on supporting, developing and maintaining applications supporting the client facing activities of the business. This will include responding to requests for improvements and changes to support business processes; providing analysis and design input into change requests; integrating client facing and internal business systems/ data and applying best practice and governance to application/ systems development.
You will have worked as a .Net Developer and have experience of: Classic ASP, ASP.Net, SQL Server, DTS (SSIS), VB.Net/ C# and working knowledge of vbscript and javascript.
An in depth experience of developing & maintaining multiple instances of large scale web based SQL Server applications is essential.
Experience of SharePoint & BizTalk will be an advantage.
Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
Reporting to the Manager of Solutions Delivery, the candidate will be responsible for managing, supporting and completing the development work required on systems supporting our Joint Venture maintenance contracts.
Core responsibilities include;

• Analysing and developing the applications in line with the business needs
• Applying governance and best practice to the generation and control of code
• Applying practices and approaches to support the strategic development of the applications

• A highly skilled developer in the technologies mentioned
• Ability to analyse change requests and apply various solutions to a problem
• A demonstrable experience of using code control and governance tools/ practices
• The ability to work within tight time constraints in a fast moving environment
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to present complex information in an easy to understand format
• Effective interpersonal skills

Knowledge

• An understanding and interest in current and future tools and approaches to development and integration
• A strong understanding of SQL databases, tools and development approaches
• An interest in MS SharePoint and portal technologies as well as web services, XML and other integration approaches.


Preferred Qualifications/ Education

The ideal candidate will have general development / analysis experience.
Experience of SharePoint & BizTalk will be definite advantage.
