Harvey Nash are currently recruiting for a Lead Database Architect/ Database Manager based in Cheshire/ Manchester with experience of logical/ physical data modeling, technical experience in an MS SQL Server 2000/ 2005 environment, some UML experience, Willingness to work overtime, and on weekends with short notice if required, Ability to work independently under minimum supervision and being proactive in solving issues, Use of optimization techniques (tuning, partitioning, compression, indexing). As a key member of the IT senior management team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 3 database professionals: 1 Database Architect, 1 Database Administrator and 1 SQL Reporting Specialist. The company has just recently invested significantly in a new SQL Server Cluster within our production environment in Docklands and replacement SQL Servers and a brand new Data Warehouse at our head office. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Lead Database Architect to take our team and our databases to the next level.
Job description:
·Database design, data modeling, and data architect in OLTP and data warehousing, preferably in a media information services environment.
·Direct and participate in the design, development and testing of database standards and best practices: backup/ recovery, disaster recovery, database file system management, replication, clustering, installation, and configuration.
·Dimensional modeling using data modeling tools
·Lead and participate in database design review sessions with Technical Architects
·Work on and participate in project development throughout the entire SDLC lifecycle.
·Manage client priorities and expectations by establishing agreed service levels.
·Assist in the mentoring and coaching of less senior level IT team members
·Troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to database issues encountered by new and existing applications in the environment.
·Actively monitor the database environment to increase efficiency, improve reliability, and minimize operating expenses.
·Analyze and tune application performance by optimizing SQL, stored procedures and triggers.
·Assist with stored procedure design and package development as required by development projects.
·Responsible for coordinating projects as a technical lead, providing design and implementation standards to team members.
·Provide technical leadership to outsourced global development team through project leadership and technical documentation.
The salary on offer is up to £50K depending on experience.
