A major investment banking institution is currently undergoing significant growth and restructuring within the EU and APAC region, and as part of this growth strategy, a Senior Oracle DBA must be urgently appointed on PERMANENT / CONTRACT basis.
The IT Technology Infrastructure division is responsible for all technology infrastructure services across the bank. The division consists of several departments, for example Global Data centre Operations, Servers and Storage, End User Platforms and Networks.
1) Works with development teams to architect/ deliver database servers for all of IT's needs
2) Maintains and monitors availability of the database servers 24x7x365
3) Delivers database systems that are highly available and capable of supporting the business
during a disaster recovery scenario
4) Provides services to developers, such as query optimization assistance and troubleshooting
support
5) High degree of proficiency in core administrative functions in Sybase ASE 12/ 12.5 and above
and Replication technologies 12/ 12.5/ 12.6
6) Strong administrative and troubleshooting skills in Oracle and MSSQL Server preferred.
7) Exposure to Oracle 10g/ RAC would be a plus
8) In depth knowledge of performance & tuning (dataserver & code), key configuration
parameters, version features, platform specific replication technologies.
9) Significant experience in delivering projects
10)Able to demonstrate their ability to work independently with development teams and the central DBA team.
Installing, upgrading, and maintenance of Sybase, Oracle, and Microsoft DBMS on Sun Solaris, Linux and WinTel platforms.
The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated GAD facing DBA team providing DBA services as there is a very high degree of proficiency in core administrative functions in Sybase ASE and Replication technologies.
1) 7 - 10 years of experience in Sybase DBA
2) Installing, upgrading, and maintenance of Sybase, Replication server, Oracle, and Microsoft
DBMS on Sun Solaris
3) Experience in Scripting.
4) Experience on Linux and WinTel platforms desirable
5) Efficient troubleshooting skills and ability to mitigate all risks, to ensure uninterrupted
availability.
6) Lead a team of skilled DBAs to deliver on the same platforms, mentor them as required.
7) Effectively manage client relationships and improve process, tools and policies.
6) Document and enforce all database architecture and relevant procedures accordingly.
7) Proactively monitor resource utilisation to meet expected service levels.
8) Proactive review of database configuration, security, P&T, capacity planning, and db
monitoring.
9) Troubleshooting and correcting database issues in an efficient and timely manner
