Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Production Engineer will plan, direct and generally oversee the technical aspects of production programmes to ensure the most efficient and economical methods of manufacture.
Key Tasks for the Production Engineer:
+ To produce Manufacturing Strategy Documents to guide Development Engineering on all new product developments.
+ To contribute to any proposals to change manufacturing strategy or methodology.
+ To provide the Production technical lead on new or modified product designs to optimise designs for efficient cost effective manufacture.
+ To identify the Company's technical requirements and assess component and equipment manufacturers, and sub contractors.
+ Make recommendations for any changes in the Company Supplier base.
+ Resolve production problems at Supplier's and Subcontractors. + To oversee or carry out time studies where required in the manufacturing area.
+ To resolve or manage the resolution of day to day problems in the manufacturing area in order to maintain efficient production flow.
+ To research the latest manufacturing technology in order to be able to advise design and production personnel of latest “Best Practices”.
Technical & Professional skills:
+ Considerable knowledge and experience of production processes is required.
+ Competence in examining plans, drawing specifications, data sheets, parts lists and other relevant documentation.
Education & Qualifications:
+ A business Degree or equivalent in Production Engineering or Management
+ Member of Chartered Institute of Management
+ Formal Training in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering
Additional Information:
+ Manage the product transition from design to manufacture via the NPD process.
