Skills:My client is a leading supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence, and an exporter of high technology systems to over 40 countries worldwide. They lead the pursuit of a multi-hundred million pound Government programme to deliver an IT enabled, transformed security capability in the UK, comprising large scale project / programme management, design, development and implementation of state of the art secure systems and software.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates for this role MUST have current Security Clearance to SC level or above (Security Check)
The Modelling Systems Engineer will work within Solutions Design Integrated Project Team, working closely with customers and other engineers , developing simulation models as measures of System Performance, and developing and implementing model verification plans and procedures. Candidates for this role must come from a System Modelling background, with a degree in a Scientific or engineering discipline. You should have an excellent understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle as well as demonstrable experience in IS design and solution implementation. You will be responsible for ensuring that all the engineering activities undertaken are conducted to a common standard that reflects best practice in accordance with CMMI.
Key experience includes:
•Dynamic modelling concepts – modelling changes over time (Discrete event, systems dynamics)
•Conceptual modelling – how to turn a systems engineering view into a performance model of the system; identifying the potential critical flowpoints of the system and the areas of highest risk for performance.
•Basic knowledge of stats
•Performance modelling experience/ measuring the performance of hardware systems
•C programming knowledge/ experience
Experience of NEC, DODAF/ MODAF and UK Government or MOD procurement practices is advantageous as well as Oracle Database, BEA Middleware Stack (Weblogic, aqualogic, data services) Linux Red Hat or Java. Knowledge and application of COTS IS applications, Portal and UI design, High Availability design. Also highly advantageous is experience of Unix environment and Scripting - Perl OR Awk or the equivalent.
