Java Developer - Fixed Income - Front Office

Experience Required
- Senior developer – professional programming experience in Java in a Unix/ Linux environment.
- Proven experience in similar IT department within banking
- Experience of working in a front office IT team, preferably focusing on fixed income rates/ credit products

Experience Preferred:
- Fixed Income cash business knowledge, rather than Fixed Income IRD knowledge
- Working knowledge of Tomcat or similar
- Previous experience with business analysis or analyst roles
- Experience of working in a professional environment with adherence to audit and compliance rules

Department Overview:
Fixed Income IT is a front office focused group delivering development solutions for internal rates and credit traders. Fixed Income IT London has a series of challenging deliverables for 2008 in line with the amalgamation of the rates and credit business.

Main Function:
Front office application development in Java of an in house trade capture platform.

Main Duties:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to analyse both the existing rates and credit trade capture platform with the view of providing a single solution. There will be opportunity and responsibility for setting the direction of the development and the solution architecture.
Tasks will include: gathering requirements from traders, code analysis, development, testing, release, and 2nd line support (Rota, no weekends/ overnight)

This role offers an excellent learning opportunity to understand multiple aspects of Fixed Income trading. Additionally, there is potential for working on other pieces of migration tasks for FI
