LINUX / UNIX SYSTEMS ADMIN - INVESTMENT BANKING - LONDON
RedHat Linux, Solaris 8-10, VxFS, VxVM, VCS, TCP/ IP protocol, including DHCP and DNS, UNIX Shell Scripting / Perl, SAN EMC and NetApp exposure.
My Client, a 1st Tier Investment Bank, has an urgent requirement for a Linux / UNIX Expert to join their London based office.
This role will sit within the Production support team, the core strength of which lies in Solaris. This has left a skills gap in the Linux area, hence the reason for this hire.
This role will be a mix between the support of the Global UNIX Estate and regular project work.
Your support responsibilities will cover 2nd / 3rd line and the project work will include new infrastructure deployment, new builds, using jumpstart etc. You will work closely with the Engineering team.
Due to the nature of this environment, Investment Banking / Finance will be essential. The ideal candidate will currently be focused in the Linux field but will also have Solaris skills.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
• RHEL 3.0 and above
• Solaris 8-10
• Veritas File system, Volume Manager and Cluster products
• Performance management and capacity planning
• Prioritise workload and monitor deliverables
• RHCE / Solaris certifications preferable
• Knowledge of the TCP/ IP protocol, including DHCP and DNS.
• Experience supporting SAN attached servers, preferably with EMC and NetApp exposure.
• UNIX Shell Scripting / Perl
• Experience supporting server backups, preferably Tivoli.
