My client are currently looking for an experienced storage technical specialist to support a current project to implement a SAN environment. The suitable applicant will be required for a 3 month contract.
To be successful you must have a good knowledge of SAN, NAS and disk technologies including both Fibre Channel and iSCSI. You must also have experience of delivering business continuity in a SAN environment including the backup/ recovery of data held within a SAN. You will need to have been a lead player in the implementation of a SAN solution and have experience of designing a SAN infrastructure.
In addition, you will need to be able to:
• Audit/ review current data storage to determine initial and future SAN storage requirements.
• Produce a detailed SAN specification that can be issued to suppliers as part of a tender process.
Their main database platform is Oracle which is deployed on a mixture of Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows servers, and their email platform is Microsoft Exchange. Therefore, knowledge of the implementation of these products in a SAN environment would be advantageous. Ideally, you will also have knowledge of virtualisation e.g. VMware, and how it interacts with SAN infrastructures.
