My client, a prestigious London based Hedge Fund is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with a broad range of technology experience.
Responsibilities:
-Carry out project work across the infrastructure, i.e. in the broad areas of servers, networks and to a lesser degree, desktops and applications:
-Consult with internal “customers”, establish requirements and priorities, create and own the deliverables
-Deploy infrastructure projects
-Write and maintain clear documentation
-Provide testing and build automatic testing for key components
-Be proactive with monitoring and follow up on warnings and errors
-Provide second line support for infrastructure requests and issues
Broad set of technical skills covering:
oLinux, Windows, and Solaris Operating Systems
oOS shell scripting and automation (Linux, Windows)
oWindows desktop support/ administration (including Active Directory, Exchange)
-Relevant experience with large enterprise infrastructure
-Database architecture and DBA experience with MSSQL
-Distributed services and clusters, running infrastructure across multiple sites
-Clear and concise communication, both written and face-to-face
-Comms room hardware support (power, cooling, cabling)
-Troubleshooting OSI layers 1 to 3
-Identify and drive best practice standards
-Ability to mentor less experienced team members
-Initiative and spotting problems/ opportunities rather than just completing tasks
-Calm under pressure, with an ability and desire to provide excellent service in a friendly but high-pressure environment
-Attention to detail, a "finisher", and building for the long-term
Important:
-Database architecture and DBA experience with Oracle 10g
-NAS/ SAN expertise, such as NetApp, EMC
-Experience with VMware – ESX and virtual infrastructure
-Design, maintain, and evolve system and network monitoring
-Implement and adhere to system and network security
-Current or previous certifications, such as (or better): CCNA, RHCE, MCSE, SCSA
