PERL / UNIX / SQL ENGINEER - INVESTMENT BANKING - LONDON
Perl Programming, UNIX / Linux Administration SQL/ Databases, SQL constructs, Autosys.
Global Investment Bank has an urgent requirement for a High Level Engineer to join their London Based office.
This role sits within the Derivatives Processing Operations team who take responsibility for all aspects of the Production environment.
This will be a highly challenging role offering high visibility and superb scope for progression.
You will be embedded in the Development team but will be expected to work autonomously. You will face off to internal Clients and Vendors and will therefore need to display courage in your convictions and confidence in your communication.
You will be involved in a range of tasks, including:
• Configuring and deploying hardware and software
• Ensuring stability of hardware, system software and application software
• Designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery plans
• Monitoring and regulating applications audit control
• Troubleshooting production outages
• Designing, deploying and maintaining Autosys jobs and other batch processes
• Detecting, investigating and remediating database issues
• Consulting with Development teams to ensure that applications are making best use of firm infrastructure and processes
• Act as interface between Development and core infrastructure teams
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
• Perl: Ability to write a Perl program from scratch and ability to understand existing scripts by looking at them. Understanding of object-oriented design and Perl data structures. Familiarity with several of the more popular CPAN modules.
• UNIX / Linux: Experience working as a UNIX system administrator or experience troubleshooting in a UNIX environment. Power user of either VI or Emacs.
• SQL/ Databases: Understanding of tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures, and the ability to understand them by reading their definitions. Familiarity with SQL constructs. Understanding of transactions, query plan analysis and database troubleshooting.
• Autosys: Ability to create and debug Autosys jobs and dependencies.
• BSc Degree in computer science or mathematics.
