Essential Specific technical expertise, knowledge and/ or experience required for the role:
-10+ years of relevant experience
-Current or previous certifications, such as (or better): CCNA, CCDA, CISSP, CCSE
-Network architecture/ solution design expertise
-Security background, including penetration testing and forensics
-Hands on expertise deploying, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting network equipment
-Broad set of server technical skills covering, Windows, Linux, Solaris Operating Systems, including OS shell scripting
-Remote access solutions such as IPSec, OpenVPN, SSH
-Distributed services and clusters, running infrastructure across multiple sites
-Identify and drive best practice standards
-Ability to mentor less experienced team members
-Initiative and spotting problems/ opportunities rather than just completing tasks
-Calm under pressure, with an ability and desire to provide excellent service in a friendly but high-pressure environment
-Attention to detail, a "finisher", and building for the long-term
Accountabilities:
-Audit, and provide new/ updated documents and diagrams for all network equipment and connectivity
-Audit current network resiliency/ redundancy, provide recommendations for improvements, working with the rest of the team scope out and deliver projects for upgrades
-Audit and update network monitoring to ensure full, real-time visibility across all networks
-Carry out project work across the infrastructure networks, and to a lesser degree servers and applications, such as WAN connectivity upgrades between remote sites, internal LAN/ VLAN upgrades, failover and load balancing design and implementation
-Set up and follow processes for regular updates/ patching of networking equipment
-Provide security expertise for all aspects of the infrastructure, such as user authentication, auditing, remote connectivity, firewalls, IDS/ IPS, penetration testing and forensics
-Provide expertise and best practice recommendations for networks architecture and design
-Provide networking mentoring to the rest of the infrastructure team, ensure there is a continuous transfer of knowledge
-Provide second line support for infrastructure requests and issues on a rotational basis
