An award winning Retail Company is actively recruiting for an Operations Shift Engineer with a good knowledge of one or more of the following up to admin level: Solaris, Linux, and AIX. The candidates need to be flexible in covering holiday and sickness on other shifts – this is paid at time-and-a-half. The Operations Shift Engineers are the central technical point of contact between the data centre, external suppliers, and the business, and provide troubleshooting and resolution from 1st to 3rd line of all issues across all business and office systems. This is a direct, hands on role and not a Systems Administration position. To qualify we would expect the successful candidate to have experience of supporting critical production infrastructure, and a good understanding of TCP/ IP and IP networking (Cisco systems inc routers/ switches), along with LAN/ WAN (DSL, Leased Lines, ISDN/ VPN, Firewalls) and Fault finding/ diagnostics/ trouble-shooting within networks. Ideally you will have held sys admin role in the past and can view system usage, explain permission model, write shell scripts and understand UNIX configuration file layout. You will have first class customer service skills for telephone and client facing support gained in a call centre, operations, or helpdesk environment. Please note that the hours of work will be a combination of day and night 12 hr shifts on a 4-day on/ off rotation. The starting salary is up to £35,000 and comes with an excellent bens package to include Generous Store Discounts, Private Healthcare (Bupa), Life assurance (3 x salary), and Non-obligatory pension scheme, and Share Options. Tags/Keywords

Our innovative and custom-written search engine places an importance upon tags chosen to be representative of the content, however it also indexes all content to provide you with the most relevant results

Please note that the Quick Search operates as Boolean search, so you can narrow your search by including operators such as "and" if more than one term is required to feature in the results. "+" will also work in the same way. I.e. "php and mysql london" is the same as "+php +mysql london".

The operator "or" does not need to be included as this is the default, i.e. "php or mysql or london" is the same as "php mysql london". You can also use "not" or - to exclude terms.
