TECHNICAL OFFICER
DOMESTIC APPLIANCE TRADE ASSOCIATION
CENTRAL LONDON + UK & EUROPEAN TRAVEL
An opportunity has arisen for a trainee to join the London base of the UK’s leading trade association for manufacturers and distributors of large and small domestic appliances and their components.
It is the responsibility of this trade association to ensure that all its members are kept abreast of developments that affect their businesses. Achieving this requires an understanding of and, where possible, exerting an influence on, the various legal and commercial issues at the UK and EU levels relating to the protection of health, safety and the environment that affect the design and servicing of domestic appliances.
As Technical Officer, you will support the work of the two Technical Managers by assisting with the preparation of industry input to standards relating to the safety performance and environmental aspects of domestic appliances. You will also process technical documents for the Association’s Technical Committees.
Qualified to degree level in Engineering or a related field, you will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, good organisational skills and be able to work both individually and as part of a team.
This is a sector that has seen an explosion in requirements relating to the environment, such as Directives on Fluorinated gasses, Energy Labelling, WEEE, RoHS, EuP and the Regulation on REACH. An understanding of these issues would enable you to play an active role in advising members and take a hands-on role in representing the industry.
