We are looking for a UNIX/ LINUX System Engineer for the Systems Team within Workspace Remote Services, to start ASAP.
Length : 6 months
Location : Edegem, Antwerp
The System Engineer will take responsibility for the technical aspects of remote systems management for the customers including the day-to-day incident management.
The System Engineer is responsible for supporting Unix and Linux environment for customers.
Tuning for maximum performance, securing against unauthorized use, providing guidance to how best use them.
Performing pro-active tasks in order to improve business application availability.
Required Skills:
To identify and propose infrastructure enhancement activities in order to improve the availability of systems and applications.
Knowledge and support experience of IBM AIX and Linux (Redhat).
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of and experience in supporting relevant backup software
Strong Project Management background in whole project life cycle
Adaptable, used to working to tight timescales, motivated to manage own time, works well on own and with a team
Attention to detail
Strong Interpersonal skills in dealing with customers.
Experience:
High level trouble shooting skills on IBM AIX and Linux (Redhat)
Apache, Tomcat knowledge.
Networking TCP/ IP.
File Systems, Storage on Unix.
Nice to have:
Awareness of quality systems such as ITIL
Database system knowledge (Sql, Oracle ).
Java knowledge.
Scripting (Perl, bash, …)
Understanding of project, problem-and change management techniques.
Experience with Sun Solaris.
Experience in Microsoft Windows Servers.
Languages: NL/ EN/ FR
