Systems / Network Support Engineer - £20,000 - £22,500
We have a requirement for a problem solving systems engineer to work for this market leader. As a systems engineer with Windows 2000, NT, Cisco and IP support experience you will also be required to have an understanding of programming and how code is written in order for application debugging and fault finding at network level. Ideally you will have an electronics or software engineering background or degree.
Programming knowledge is essential to your networking support experience because the machines you will be supporting carry Oracle / SQL databases and you will be required to work through the code to trace where potential faults could have occurred. The server management software is written in Java and the database is Oracle.
You will be working as part of a team who interact with developers, sales and other 2nd and 4th line support teams so good communication skills are essential. The sites supported are UK wide so when required to visit these sites a pool or hire car will be provided. Overtime is paid after 5pm.
You will be a logical thinker who as well as having Windows and networking support experience will be familiar with SQL and troubleshooting/ diagnosing faults within the log files. This is a diverse role with opportunities to increase your skills within either technical support or software support. Product training will be provided but you must have the existing foundation of skills with software/ application support and networking.
