Sybase DBA
Provide Database Administration and Technical Support, with responsibility for the delivery of reliable, highly available and high performance environments.
Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, and troubleshoot all Database Environments and Database based Applications.
Conduct Performance Monitoring / Tuning and Capacity Monitoring / Planning.
This position is required to work on a Shift Rota covering the onsite hours of 07:00 to 19:00. Also to provide on-call / on-site technical support outside of the normal on-site hours and when necessary to attend site at weekends to carry out scheduled work.
Provide first line Production Support for all UNIX based Database elements of Applications, with responsibility for their availability and performance.
Essential requirements
•Sybase Database Administration experience in a Production Support Team
•Oracle Database Administration experience in a Production Support Team
•Experience in an Investment Banking environment
•Excellent knowledge of Sybase (inc. 12.5) running on Solaris
•Good knowledge of Oracle (release 10G and above) running on Solaris
•Excellent knowledge of Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning Utilities and Commands
•Sufficient Solaris experience to perform the DBA Functions competently
•Excellent Shell Scripting Skills
•Excellent Interpersonal Skills
•Excellent Written and Oral Communications Skills
