I have been retained by a major finance house and the first independent source of credit derivative pricing, to cherry pick the very best technologists from across the IT Industry. Due to the current market conditions accurate and reliable market information is of paramount importance, especially because their data, valuations and trade processing services are regarded as the market standard in the global financial markets. In this situation the technology is playing catch up and all projects are Greenfield. You will be working with other specially selected technologist from a variety of backgrounds, but similar in their quality and passion for programming.
You will work in a team as the main database focused developer using Oracle Database 10G R2 PL/ SQL, SQL and Java and also to provide DBA support and assistance to other projects.
On the Development side you will migrate current logic from Java/ SQL to Java and PL/ SQL where appropriate, rationalise the data model and design, develop and implement performance improvements and application enhancements.
On the DBA side you will work with Senior DBA to support and maintain databases through full lifecycle involving typical DBA tasks; backup, recovery, tuning, monitoring, installations, patching and mentoring developers. All databases are 10g running on Solaris 9 using RMAN for backups and Enterprise Manager 10g R2 for monitoring.
Previous Finance experience is a bonus, but not vital.
