Sage Enterprise R&D develops Sage ERP 1000, Sage BI and UK elements of Sage ERP X3. We’re responsible for the whole development lifecycle from business analysis through coding, quality assurance and delivery onto an installation image. Driven by highly competitive markets and a desire for strong growth we value continuous improvement and work closely with our people and other areas of the business to ensure that we’re working as best we can.
We now have an opportunity for a QA Manager to take up a key leadership role within Enterprise R&D, reporting to the department head with accountability for ensuring that all products released by the Research & Development team are of high quality. This is an influencing role, expected to deliver demonstrable improvement to quality and process across the department, through a combination of direct & indirect line-management of test professionals.
You'll be providing direction and leadership to the testing community, and defining the quality strategies to ensure the most effective and efficient quality is achieved, involving the full SDLC and including the use of specialised testing tools (including automated tools) and techniques. You'll liaise with Product Development Managers to manage the expectations for the testing stages of projects, and agreeing quality gate / acceptance criteria with a high emphasis on an excellent user experience.
You'll have the skill to relate software quality issues to business requirements and to clearly articulate their significance to both technical and non-technical audiences. You'll be comfortable with appropriate risk taking yet have the experience to know when and where to apply engineering rigour.
You will have hands on experience introducing and continually improving 'best practice' product testing techniques within teams including structured and automated testing. Proven project management experience and experience of SCRUM is highly desirable as you'll be responsible for estimating and planning the team's work, yet you will be able to demonstrate how this can be managed in a way that allows flair and creative innovation to flourish within an implicitly disciplined environment.
The role has full accountability for all testing activities within Enterprise R&D projects, evaluating risk potential based on the results of the testing during all stages of development. It will also involve controlling acceptance of software that originates from non-Enterprise R&D teams.
Familiarity with current and emerging technology trends is a pre-requisite and you'll have worked with a variety of software development methodologies. A strong awareness of good practices and new developments in software testing, particularly within agile software development organisations is required.
