Midland Computers are seeking one eager, honest and passionate web designer to join their expanding web development department. Your enthusiasm to succeed might out balance your skillset right now, but you’ll have the confidence in yourself to eventually merge the two (with our help and support).
Your creativity will be matched by your understanding of the user experience and your constant desire to comprehend and grasp the latest digital technologies and practices.
You’ll need some understanding of HTML & CSS (maybe even some basic programming knowledge) but your primary focus will be in creating engaging interactive designs. For this you will be offered a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications (£18,000+).
Skill Requirements
You should have:
•A good grounding of Photoshop and Illustrator
•The ability to produce semantic and clean HTML and CSS
•Understanding of HTML, CSS and hopefully JavaScript (inc JQuery)
•Appreciation of UX and UI methods including wire framing
•A good grasp on marketing & branding principles
•The ability to consistently produce commercially viable ideas and designs
and hopefully:
•Experience using Adobe Flash or Adobe Edge
•Experience using Adobe InDesign (print experience is desirable but not essential)
•The ability to FTP and manage live and development versions of sites
•A formal design qualification
•Good interpersonal and communication skills
Your Daily Role
You will keep up to date with advances in Internet Technology and new design trends, methods and principles. Reporting to the Internet Projects Manager you will be a valuable asset to the web development team and department. Your core focus will be to produce high quality visuals appropriate to a brief, which you will then convert into web standards compliant code before testing thoroughly and putting live. Whilst doing this you will be mindful of the project goals and the budget and timeframe available.
