POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Operations Duty Manager ensures the effective operation of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) on a per shift basis by leading efforts to measure, manage, standardize, and continuously improve key activities in the Department.
Responsibilities will include:
Ensuring that the BlackBerry Infrastructure is running effectively at all times and that in the event of an outage, every reasonable effort is made to restore service as quickly as possible
Actively recommending improving, assigning, and supervising changes to existing processes with the NOC Management team by managing projects in the NOC
Ensuring adequate coverage on all shifts and participating in recruiting NOC staff
Ensuring procedures are followed for Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management and Configuration Management
Acting as a first-level management liaison with other departments
Co-ordinating activities and sharing processes and documentation with other BlackBerry Operations centres
Front line support during incidents, ensuring incident process is followed, external communications are completed and available to address carrier concerns during any outage
Skills & Experience required include:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience
Must be willing to do shift work in a 24 x 7 x 365 team environment
Experience in systems management and administration in a combined UNIX/ Windows environment, including leading a 24/ 7 technical or service based operational environment
Proven communication, organization, troubleshooting, and management skills
Prior experience in process improvement initiatives, team leadership, network/ systems troubleshooting or software engineering and development
